The Benz NBS Abrader meets and exceeds specifications, described in ASTM D-1630, for abrasion resistance of vulcanized rubber or other compounds. This abrasion machine consists of a 6″ diameter drum; three arms, pivoted at one end, with a mass suspended from the other end; three dial thickness gauges with 0.001″ graduation; an internal blower; a digital cycle counter; and a controlled abrasive (40 grit paper; 6″ in width)

1006, Model B Bond Testers1006, Model B Bond Testers 

The improved Model B tester from Benz has automated the test process with microprocessor-controlled data acquisition. Designed to provide the expected internal bond strength for various types of paper, coated products and paperboard, this instrument measures the impact energy imparted to the specimen. The machine consists of a base, sample-preparation press, tape dispenser, dual-range pendulum (0 to 0.325 ft. lbs. and 0 to 0.650 ft. lbs.) and Digital Display. Internal Bond software is available. 

The specimen is held between the base and the anvil of the test fixture, using double-faced pressure-sensitive tape. One-inch-square specimens are prepared under calibrated pressure to insure uniform adhesion to the fixture and the aluminum angle. The impact force of the pendulum head striking the aluminum angle is displayed on the PC.

1071, Model P-4 Plastometers1071, Model P-4 Plastometers 

Plasticity is determined by taking a sample of known size, preheating it to a predefined test temperature for a precise time, and then subjecting it to a compressive force of 5,000g. The resultant thickness is the plasticity. 

The Model P-4 is used to determine the plasticity and recovery of uncompounded, compounded, and reclaimed stocks of unvulcanized rubber and rubber-like materials. It conforms with the requirements of ASTM-D-926.  

An Auxiliary dial indicator can be supplied with a micrometer gauge having a presser foot actuated by a dead weight force required for recovery measurements. Also available for use with this tester is a die to cut a uniform test sample to ASTM procedures. 

A digital indicator with hookup to a PC with software for automated data collection is also available. This allows the user the ability to collect and compare data and make test reports with histograms effortlessly.

1078, Model MV2100 Viscometers 

The Benz Mooney Viscometer (MV 2100) measures and records the viscosity of natural and synthetic rubber and plastic elastomers, including rubber in the raw or compounded state. It is also used to determine the curing characteristics of compounded rubber. 

More than a simple viscometer, the Benz MV 2100 is a computer data acquisition system, with digital P.I.D. temperature controls, real time display of torque vs. time, data storage for statistical evaluation, and data manipulation.
